So much confidence. So much swagger. Josef Martinez is dripping in both of them to start his MLS career. With five goals in his first three games, he’s already taken off with the league lead in goals. He’s just so hard for opposing defenders to contend with. His mixture of world-class pace, a delicate first touch, and great ability to find the back of the net are a lethal combination.
All were on display in his latest goal to date. It was the capper in a 4-0 demolition of the Chicago Fire. Latching onto a Yamil Asad through ball, he received the pass at a tight angle, side-stepped the goalkeeper and finished from an almost impossible angle. This camera shot of the whole play is simply amazing and what tops it all off is the ever-so-confident celebration after the fact. This goal sums up the beginning of Josef Martinez’s MLS career so perfectly.
