Atlanta United definitely had their hands full this weekend, which resulted in a loss to DC United. The match started with a consistent attack from the Atlanta side, which lead to a goal in the early minutes of the match. However, after an own goal and a surprising 2nd goal from DC United the energy and momentum shifted. Social media had a lot to say in response for sure. Take a look below:

Dropped my brother off at the @ATLUTD game. He chose to get out on 85 instead of sitting in traffic. True dedication. @Cory_Aycock pic.twitter.com/4q1VL0GeIw

I like the positive spin.. but yeah. This is where it all goes south.
Own goal 1-1 , we should really be leading 2-1 or even 2-0. That own goal was so lucky #ATLUTD

What is defense? #ATLUTD

Dammit #ATLUTD did the #Hawks rub off on yall???
— Theru (@GottaLuvRuBaby) April 30, 2017
With the Hawks falling to the Wizards and now this, D.C. hasn’t been kind to Atlanta lately.
That might have been the worst defending I have ever seen at any level. That includes U-5s. #ATLUTD

The home United took a hit this weekend with the surprising loss. However, I loved seeing how positive our fan base was via social media. A lot of our fan base understands that even with recent successes, Atlanta United is still an expansion team with learning to do.
I’m sure that this won’t be the last frustrating match, but we know Atlanta United will return back to the form we’ve come to love. Now, let’s look to next week.
