Miguel Almiron’s first goal in Saturday’s 4-1 beatdown of Houston Dynamo was announced today as the MLS Goal of the Week, the player’s second such honor of the season.
The goal was arguably not even his best goal of the game. The club ran it’s own poll on its Twitter account, and Almiron’s 42nd-minute blast — his second of the game — was deemed to be the best.

VOTE your favorite from our match against @HoustonDynamo
I might be burying the lede though. This award, the third such honor given to an Atlanta United player this season, is more a testament to the Atlanta United fans who voted for him, as the Goals of the Week are decided by fan vote. In fact, MLS allows fans to vote once every hour, so you have to give a tip of the hat to the dedicated supporters who voted again, and again, and again. Well done to all involved.
