Less than a month ago, Atlanta United were dealt undoubtedly their worst loss of the season by New York City FC at Yankee Stadium. While the 3-1 scoreline wasn’t outrageously bad, the lopsided success enjoyed by NYCFC on the day was. The Manchester City farm team have completely transformed from an underachieving, big-named expansion club to a burgeoning powerhouse who’ve learned their lesson on how to succeed in Major League Soccer.
In the two matches since that Big Apple embarrassment, Atlanta United have put on back-to-back impressive performances and could be finally be getting close to the return of their main goal threat. Things are looking up for the Five Stripes, while NYCFC come in off of beating Orlando City, 3-0, and their new stadium.
This one has all the makings of a good old-fashioned barn burner. Let’s just hope all the goals flow in the opposite direction of what they did earlier this month.
