Atlanta United may have to deal with another player injured while on international duty. The victim: Kenwyne Jones.
Late change! Kenwyne Jones is injured in warm-up. Jamille Boatswain will start instead. Triston Hodge is now on the bench

Jones was set to start against The Ticos in their World Cup Qualifier match at Costa Rica. There aren’t many details on the type of injury Jones may have suffered, but CONCACAF matches are notorious for being played on tough pitches. Injuries during warm ups are rare, but being pulled out of the starting XI means it’s serious enough to be concerned about it for Atlanta United fans.
If this is a serious injury, it’ll be interesting to see what Tata Martino decides to do in those final 10 to 15 minutes in which he’s brought in the Trinidadian to close out matches. Brendan Vazquez will be the obvious choice and it’ll be a great opportunity for him to show what he can do should he be put in similar positions.
It’s too early to judge how much of an impact this could make, but this would be the second injury sustained by an Atlanta United player on international duty. Let’s hope it isn’t serious and Jones is able to make a quick recovery.
