Four for four. Tito Villalba has officially won MLS Goal of the Week for his beautiful curling, side-footed finish against New York City FC. This is the fourth time Atlanta United has won the fan-voted award in four times of being nominated. It’s also the second straight week they’ve won it after Miguel Almiron’s left-footed blast against Houston Dynamo took it home last week.
We’re getting to a point where it’s unfair for any Atlanta player to be nominated for this. Tito blew away the competition this week in the voting. At least check, he had 62% of the vote with the next highest only having 18%. It’s sort of fun being part of a juggernaut fan base who wins every single fan vote.
With this power, however, comes great resentment from those who wish they had it. Expect to start seeing some backlash from the other MLS fans over all these awards soon. And when it happens, just laugh and point at them.
