Almiron wins second Goal of the Week award of the season.

MLS: Columbus Crew SC at Atlanta United FC Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

Miguel Almiron’s exceptional solo goal in Atlanta United’s 3-1 over Columbus Crew SC was enough to secure the AT&T MLS Goal of the Week honor.

Almiron’s goal earned 50% of the votes and rightly so. The Paraguayan received the ball from Leandro Gonzalez Pirez, before he slalomed through Columbus’ midfield and defense to drive a low shot into the bottom corner.

Almiron not only showed his speed and strength on the goal, but also the composure to find the bottom corner despite pressure from two defenders. An impressive goal for the attacking midfielder and one that sums up just how Atlanta United have played all season, with pace and precision in front of goal.

The Goal of the Week award is Almiron’s second of the season and accompanies two Player of the Week awards, highlighting an already impressive debut season in Major League Soccer.

Is Miguel Almiron emerging as a potential 2017 MVP candidate? If he continues to score goals like this one, don’t be surprised if his name is mentioned.
