Mercedes Benz Stadium closes roof for the first time

A landmark achievement for Arthur Blank Group and the construction team

NFL: NFC Divisional-Seattle Seahawks at Atlanta Falcons Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

For the first time in human history, the Mercedes Benz Stadium in Atlanta has fully closed it’s one-of-a-kind retractable roof structure.

Not only is it historic for the Arthur Blank Group for leading the project that lead to this point, but it’s an achievement for all of mankind. Never before has a retractable roof of a stadium operated in the precise way that Mercedes Benz Stadium’s does with the way the giant blades fan in and out. This photo illustrates just how precise it needs to be to function properly. It’s no wonder that it was such a big challenge to build.

Only a few more months before we get to marvel in all its glory.
