Miguel Almiron, Kenwyne Jones called up for international duty

Be safe, fellas.

Soccer: 2016 Copa America Centenario-Paraguay at USA Bill Streicher-USA TODAY Sports

Miguel Almiron and Kenwyne Jones will be leaving Atlanta United to head out for international duty as the pair have been called up to their respective national teams. Jones will miss Atlanta United’s match on Saturday at the Chicago Fire as he joins Trinidad and Tobago for two import World Cup qualifiers against the United States (June 8) and Costa Rica (June 13).

Almiron will join up with Paraguay for the second of their two friendlies. They recently got crushed by France, 5-0. Paraguay allowed him to miss that match and join up for the second match against Peru on June 8. Almiron will join Atlanta United in Chicago after the match, but it’s unclear what kind of role he’ll play during the match, if any at all.

International duty is part of the game. Atlanta got a rude awakening to that fact in March when Josef Martinez got injured. We can only hope both players come back fit and healthy.
