After an utterly shocking away win against the Columbus Crew, Atlanta United will look to head into the Gold Cup break with some momentum by defeating a San Jose Earthquakes side that has won four of its last five in all competitions.
Tata Martino has shown time and time again that he won’t rest his usual starters if they’re healthy and it’s not a U.S. Open Cup match. So, will that trend continue? Here’s the definite, surefire starting lineup for the 4th of July.* Also, happy 4th of July!
*I’m probably wrong.
Formation: 4-3-3.
Goalkeeper: Alec Kann.
Left Back: Greg Garza.
Center Back #1: Leandro Gonzalez Pirez.
Center Back #2: Michael Parkhurst.
Right Back: Anton Walkes. I think Tata has found his Tyrone Mears replacement.
Center Midfielder #1: Jeff Larentowicz. Red Hot.
Center Midfielder #2: Carlos Carmona. Chile Pepper.
Attacking Midfielder: Miguel Almiron. Más grande de todos los tiempos.
Left Winger: Yamil Asad.
Right Winger: Hector Villalba. Consistency is all he needs. Now he doesn’t have to score a brace every match, but continue to have a positive effect on a match-to-match basis.
Striker: Josef Martinez. Tambien mas grande de todos los tiempos.
Yeah, same old same old. To recap, here’s my projected lineup against the San Jose Earthquakes.
