The Atlanta Silverbacks defeated the Georgia Revolution by a score of 4-0 in the final match of the 2017 NPSL Regular Season.
Atlanta’s Kentaro “Taka” Takada kicked off the scoring in the 15’ when he converted a penalty kick from the spot. Next up was forward Avery Shepard who received a through ball and slotted it past the keeper in the 23’. Shepard’s goal was shortly followed by an Alex Harlley finesse shot from the top of the box for a 3-0 lead in the 26’. Harlley made it two goals in the second half when he sent a curling free kick into the back of the net.
With the win, the Silverbacks clinched the second seed in the Southeast Conference West Division and the right to host the first match of the 2017 NPSL Playoffs. They will play Asheville City SC on Tuesday July 11.
The loss marks the end of a disappointing season for the Revolution who failed to win a game this season. The team will look to rebuild ahead of their 2018 campaign.
Details about the upcoming playoff match will be announced shortly. Stay tuned to Dirty South Soccer for the latest NPSL Playoff updates.
