Atlanta United at D.C. United: Staff Predictions

Our staff are leaning towards Atlanta United getting their revenge.

MLS: Atlanta United FC at D.C. United Geoff Burke-USA TODAY Sports

Here at DSS we will be starting a new feature of match predictions from now until the end of the season, keeping track of how many right and wrong predictions we make. You can leave your predictions in the comments each (must be before the match starts) and I (Andrew) will keep track of it. You predictions can be as wild or serious as you want, as long as you can get the correct result. Game on!

Andrew Hathaway

Atlanta 4 - D.C. 0 (Martinez (2), Walkes, Almiron)

I think Almiron and Martinez get a goal in the first half and D.C. goes down a man from the frustration, which leads to a lot of crosses in which Martinez and Walkes score on headers. D.C. has had Atlanta’s number but I think there is a huge shift towards Atlanta after all the moves D.C. has made, this isn’t the same team that the five strips have faced.

Christian Candler

Atlanta 2 - D.C. 1 (Asad, Martinez, Acosta)

After losing to D.C. twice, Tata and co. will be looking to avenge themselves. With Josef looking to come back into the team, he will be hungry for a goal. D.C. have been struggling as of late as well (1-1-8).

Jesmary Lorenzo

Atlanta 2 - D.C. 1 (Almiron, Asad, Acosta)

This may be the most important game in Atlanta United short and amazing history, we face the mighty D.C. United who currently sit last in the Supporters Shield Standings but somehow have beaten us twice already. This time around Atlanta are going into the match with a mostly healthy squad and more importantly with Mears on the bench. Finally beating D.C. United is gonna feel better than winning the MLS Cup. We ready.

Joe Patrick

Atlanta 3 - D.C. 1 (Martinez (2), Vazquez, Acosta)

The main question surrounding Atlanta United heading into this match is whether the players remember how to play soccer or not. I think they remember, so they'll win 3-1. Oh, and if Josef Martinez doesn't play, we riot.

John Fuller

Atlanta 2 - D.C. 0 (Martinez (2))

This time, Atlanta will play with a full deck against DC. Josef Martinez, Brad Guzan, Anton Walkes and Carlos Carmona all are ready to go. DC sold the franchise to get Paul Arriola, and has several key injuries; RFK floods deeper than their roster. Also Michael Parkhurst won’t score another own goal, spoiling DC’s primary game plan. Bill Hamid will stand on his head again to keep it close.

Parker Cleveland

Atlanta 1 - D.C. 0 (Martinez)

DC parks the bus

La pantera scores a goal

A racoon cries

Rob Usry

Atlanta 1 - D.C. 1 (Villalba, Acosta)

D.C. United is the worst team in MLS, but they're also Atlanta's bogey team. There's just something about their style of play that gives the Five Stripes fits. It'll be more frustration in this one, but they'll finally get a point against their United brethren.

Sam Jones

Atlanta 5 - D.C. 0 (Boswell (5))

Bobby Boswell comes off the bench in the 80' and scores five times in the next ten minutes. After each goal he yells "YOU ARE NOTHING! BOBBY BOSWORTH IS THE GREATEST!" After the fifth goal he takes a dump right in the empty bleachers at RFK and no one seems to notice any difference.

Sydney Hunte

Atlanta 2 - D.C. 0 (Martinez, Almiron)

They say the third time's a charm - hopefully that's the case in D.C. this week. Atlanta have taken on D.C. United twice and lost twice, but I have a feeling that it won't happen a 3rd time.

Victor Tun

Atlanta 3 - D.C. 1 (Martinez x2, Villalba, ????)

I think the third time is the charm and United will leave Washington with three points. After injuries here and there, having the entire team fully healthy and coming off a two-week break will be key on why they will end on top of D.C. United.
