After a last minute goal saw Atlanta United earn a hard-fought point against Orlando City, the Five Stripes will now travel to Kansas, er, Missouri to take on Sporting Kansas City. Josef Martinez has been kept out of the team the past two matches due to an aggravation of a previous injury. Atlanta United president Darren Eagles said it's not serious. However, according to Tata Martino, he’s primed to miss a third. So, it looks like we’ll see Villalba up top once again. What about the rest of the club?
Here is the definite, surefire starting XI for August 6th.*
*I'm probably wrong.
Formation: 4-3-3.
Goalkeeper: Brad Guzan. Cue ball. The entire backline seems more organized with Guzan in goal. Communication is an underappreciated quality in keepers.
Left Back: Mikey Ambrose. The All-Star Game should be banished to the depths of hell. Personally though, I think Ambrose will do fine as Greg Garza's replacement. He seems to be favored over Mark Bloom at this point.
Center Back #1: Leandro Gonzalez Pirez. He was so good last week.
Center Back #2: Michael Parkhurst. He also partook in All-Star festivities, but should be fine to play on Sunday.
Right Back: Anton Walkes. Congratulations on your loan extension. We're happy to have you!
Center Midfielder #1: Carlos Carmona. Vastly underrated.
Center Midfielder #2: Jeff Larentowicz. Same.
Attacking Midfielder: Miguel Almiron. Real Madrid slayer.
Left Winger: Yamil Asad.
Right Winger: Brandon Vazquez. He’s just been better than Julian Gressel in recent weeks. Look for Martino to go with the 18-year old.
Striker: Hector Villalba. Lion Tamer.
