Sporting Kansas City 1-1 Atlanta United: Community Player Ratings

Your results.

MLS: Atlanta United FC at Sporting KC Denny Medley-USA TODAY Sports

For the second week in a row, Atlanta United snatched a draw from the jaws of defeat thanks to a second half stoppage time equalizer. While they were the better team in the Orlando City comeback, the Miracle in KC was totally and utterly undeserved and somehow that made it all the sweeter. Playing awful on the road against a good team and still coming away with a point is very impressive.

Man of the Match: Jacob Peterson

I’ll have to dig through the DSS record books, but I believe this is the first time a substitute has ever won our MOTM award. The former Sporting Kansas City veteran, Jacob Peterson, returned from injury just in time to deal his old side a stunning blow. It was as smash and grab as you could possibly get and it was glorious.

NOTE: With the two-week break upon us, look out for a “midseason” player ratings bonanza coming on Monday. I’ll be calculating every match to see just who has been consistent and who hasn’t.
