Atlanta United place Zach Loyd on season-ending injury list

A roster spot is now open...

Atlanta United announced on Tuesday that they have transferred Zach Loyd to the Season-Ending Injury list (SEI). The move opens up a roster spot for the club to make possible additions before the summer transfer window closes on Wednesday.

Loyd, 30, was acquired via the MLS Expansion Draft in the offseason despite concussion concerns. He has reportedly been dealing with groin issues throughout the season. He appeared in one match for Atlanta this season, a U.S. Open Cup match against Charleston Battery.

Rumors of the club adding veteran defender Bobby Boswell have been swirling since Monday night. If he is to be added, this seems like the corresponding roster move that needed to be made. Now we wait and see if that’s actually the case.
