MLS: New England Revolution at Atlanta United FC Brett Davis-USA TODAY Sports

Here we go again. Atlanta United look to make it a perfect 3 for 3 in Mercedes-Benz Stadium today as they host their maybe/kinda/possible rivals, Orlando City. This will be the third meeting of the season between the two Southeastern clubs. The first two meetings resulted in “The Lion Tamer” Tito Villalba breaking purple hearts with late goals. A wondergoal in Orlando earned Atlanta a win there, while a late equalizer in stoppage time closed out Bobby Dodd Stadium.

The Five Stripes are coming in riding their best form of the season. Opening their new stadium, they’ve score 10 goals and conceded none in the last two matches. A playoff berth seems a near certainty, but a second win over Orlando would make this season taste just a tad bit sweeter than it already does.

Both teams will be missing key players in this game. Atlanta will be without two defensive starters as Leandro Gonzalez Pirez serves a suspension for yellow card accumulation and Greg Garza is sidelined for at least one match with a hamstring niggle. Orlando will be without Kaka who is also out due to yellow cards, Seb Hines, Jose Aja, and Will Johnson are also out.

It will be a historic day in Atlanta as the team is set to break the league’s single-game attendance record. Hopefully all those fans will be treated to another beautiful display of soccer and a positive result.
