One week. That’s all that stands between us and an Atlanta United home match at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. September 10 against FC Dallas, you know the routine by now.
Last night saw the first-ever competitive sporting event take place in the new stadium as Alabama rocked Florida State in college throwball. One thing we learned before the game is that the greatest soccer meme in the world is alive and well in Atlanta:

A good Wenger Out sign will never not be funny to me. Well done random throwball fan!
On to the actual game. We put out a little warning tweet earlier this week saying that the noise levels in the stadium would be intense and that earplugs might be a smart move for young children coming to Atlanta United matches. A kind tweeter confirmed our suspicions last night:
@DirtySouthSoc referring to your tweet about the stadium noise at MBS I'm at the Bama-FSU game it hasn't kicked but its deafening in here

The decibel levels are going to be off the charts when Atlanta United play. Bank on that. If you or your children have sensitive ears, having some protection honestly might not be the worst idea.
The field seemed to hold up fine. There were some marks, but that’s to be expected. We’ll have to see what it looks like on Sunday after another football game takes place on Monday.
