Atlanta United announced a week worth of events from Sept. 5-10 to celebrate the club moving into its new home at Mercedes-Benz Stadium ahead of the Sept. 10 match vs FC Dallas. March to Mercedes-Benz Stadium kicks off this upcoming Tuesday, Sept 5 with Takeover Tuesday, to participle just put Atlanta United flags around the city, the club will be looking for them and selecting winners for the rest of the season.
For Wednesday Sept. 6, they’ll have a Community Day. With the September launch of the club’s Kick Childhood Cancer campaign, Atlanta United and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta will be partnering in a series of activities centered around bringing exceptional experiences for children. Activities for the inaugural event will include visits from Atlanta United players, crafts, games for patients and their families to enjoy.
Celebrations continue Thursday, Sept. 7 for Pick-Up Night at Station Soccer at 6:30pm. They’re going to have live music; ticket giveaways and some prizes. Friday, Sept 8, it’s 5-Stripe Friday. Wear your inaugural season kits at work and around town like you should do anyway, take a picture and put it on social media with the hashtag #5StripeFriday. And tune in to the team’s social media accounts as some of Atlanta's finest shout out the red, black and gold.
The final event before matchday and my personal favorite will be a Pub Crawl on Saturday, Sept 9. It starts at Molly B’s inside Mercedes-Benz Stadium and it continues throughout Castleberry Hill. It will be a great chance to enjoy the best bars and restaurants in Atlanta while supporting Atlanta United. To participate you must be 21 or older, you’ll get complimentary drinks, a commemorative Atlanta United t-shirt and food and drink specials at each participating bar. The event will be from 12:30pm- 5pm
All those events are fun and all but it all leads to the most important day of the week, Atlanta United's debut in Mercedes-Benz Stadium Sunday, Sept 10 when The Five Stripes face FC Dallas at 3:30pm, EST.
