We don’t yet know Atlanta United 2’s full inaugural schedule, but we now know who its first-ever opponent will be.
Per the USL, ATL UTD 2 will open its home campaign - and in turn its inaugural season - with New York Red Bulls II on Saturday, March 24 at Coolray Field. Kickoff time has yet to be announced. The first team is off that day, so it’s a great chance for Atlanta United fans to head up to Gwinnett and support ATL UTD 2 for the first time.
NYRB II, coached by former New York Red Bulls player John Wolyniec, finished in seventh in the Eastern Conference in 2017 with 44 points (13-14-5). However, they made a dream run to the conference finals, knocking out Charleston 4-0 and Tampa Bay 2-1 in extra time before falling in penalties at eventual league champion Louisville City FC.
The full USL schedule will be released next week, but one piece of the puzzle is in place.
