Atlanta United’s Academy could be losing one of its prized talents. According to ESPNFC, Zyen Jones is one of two U.S. youth internationals currently on trial with Bundesliga giants Schalke.
Jones, 17, is a member of the Atlanta United U-19 team and represent the United States at the U-17 CONCACAF Championship alongside Andrew Carleton and Chris Goslin in 2017.
The Clarkston, GA native is on trial with former New York Red Bulls Academy fullback and U-17 national team member Chris Gloster. According to ESPN’s source at Schalke, the club see Jones as “definitely an interesting player.”
Jones is a winger known for his pace and dynamic attacking ability. While losing him would be a blow to Atlanta United, him joining one of the best developers of talent in the soccer world would be huge for American soccer and him personally.
Good luck to Zyen as he attempts to win over the decision makers at Schalke.
