While Barco Watch (TM) was playing itself out over the last month there was another transfer saga brewing. While it might not have been as publicized, reports out of Chile have stated numerous times that Carlos Carmona was on the verge of a return to his home country with Colo Colo.
Despite the persistent rumors, Atlanta United Technical Director Carlos Bocanegra seemingly put an end the ‘saga’ on Monday. With the team returning for preseason training, Bocanegra was asked if the veteran midfielder would be in Atlanta for 2018 and he responded with an emphatic ‘yes’.
When asked if Carmona will stay for all of 2018, Boca responded with an astounding “Yes”.

Carmona’s contract reportedly expires after the upcoming season. He would then be free to pursue a move back home without Atlanta having a say if he so chooses. The 30-year-old had a very good first season with the Five Stripes and looks to be a very important part of Tata Martino’s midfield this season as well.
