Since then, the AJC’s Doug Roberson has confirmed the report and even spoke with Atlanta’s Technical Director Carlos Bocanegra on the reasoning for selling an important player.
The basic reality of this move is that Carmona’s wife is due to give birth soon and he wanted to return to his home country to be with his family. Bocanegra revealed to Roberson that the club did the right thing by letting fulfilling his wishes.
“We wouldn’t be doing the right thing standing in his way.”

A source familiar with the situation has told Dirty South Soccer that Atlanta United will be searching for a replacement for Carmona on the roster as the club’s second season approaches.
Good luck to Carlos and his family and thanks for your great contributions to the club during its inaugural season.
