As Atlanta United said good bye to a few players with the departures of Carlos Carmona and Jacob Peterson, the team will be saying hello to Ezequiel Barco today. He had a few words for his new tammates in an interview with ESPN Deportes just before he got in a plane to Orlando. Barco seemed relieved and ready to start his career with Atlanta United, saying
First, I’m very happy the transfer was completed, it’s a very important change in my career. I’m excited to get there and start training.
When asked what he knew about the club and his new teammates, Barco said,
The team told me that they want to buy young players to make them grow and I liked that idea, I’m very happy and I want to enjoy it.
He also mentioned his Independiente coach Ariel Holan, told him to go to a better league but he told him he made up his mind to join Atlanta as soon as he got their offer.
Darren Eales: 1
Independiente: 0
We’ll learn more about Barco as he joins the team at training camp in Bradenton, Florida. It looks like he caught a ride from the airport and is making his way there today.
