For the past couple of weeks, Atlanta United has been heavily linked to River Plate midfielder Pity Martinez.
Leandro Gonzalez Pirez was asked about the skillful left-footed midfielder yesterday in Futbol Continental, and he was quick to praise and endorse Pity as replacement for Europe-bound Miguel Almiron.
Cc @ClossAM590

“If Miguel goes to Arsenal, the ideal replacement would be Pity,” said Gonzalez Pirez. “We’re delighted that players like him are interested in coming, I hope it becomes a reality.
“Pity is a great player. He has characteristics that are similar to Miguel Almiron’s characteristics. He wouldn’t have any problem adapting in Atlanta United.”
No one knows if Tata Martino is staying or leaving—not even his own players—but Gonzalez Pirez was clear on where he would like to see him if he were to leave Atlanta at the end of the season.
“If Martino leaves, I hope it would be to manage the Argentine national team and not somewhere else.”
