In what was billed as the biggest regular season match in MLS in recent memory, Atlanta United laid a complete egg in their 2-0 loss to the New York Red Bulls. Once again the Five Stripes were unable to figure out their Supporters’ Shield rivals, losing to them for the third time in four meetings.
Man of the Match: Brad Guzan
While it’s nearly impossible to pick a best player when a team gets thoroughly dominated as Atlanta did on Sunday, Guzan gets the nod for his late penalty save to keep the score at 2-0 and give his side the slimmest of hope to rescue a point. It was his first time successfully keeping a penalty out via a save as an Atlanta United player.
