Injury Update: Darlington Nagbe on track to play in first leg of MLS Eastern Conference Final

Tata Martino told reporters in his media availability Friday morning that central midfielder Darlington Nagbe will hopefully train with the team next week as Atlanta United prepares for it’s first leg bout with New York Red Bulls in the MLS Eastern Conference semifinals on Nov. 25.

“I don’t think Darlington will have a problem, but we kept him from the national team so he could be careful and rehab that injury,” Martino said through a translator. “We’ll see next week if we are able to get him back for the game.”

Nagbe was called into the U.S. Men’s National Team by interim manager Dave Sarachan to join the squad that was set to play England in London and Italy in Belgium during the FIFA international break.

Martino added that Andrew Carleton (flu) and Jeff Larentowicz (mysterious muscle injury) were planning to take part in Friday’s session with the team. Brandon Vazquez also trained with the team Friday, Chris McCann is still out of action, and the team will wait until next week to decide if he’s capable of returning to training. Sal Zizzo may also return to training this week, while his opposite fullback Mikey Ambrose has been declared out for the remainder of the season.
