Atlanta United cap off 2018 preseason with a 0-0 stalemate

this was a match and a match it was.

Atlanta United completed their 2018 preseason with...a match....that....happened...just now.

It was a surprisingly uneventful first half for an experimental match, as Atlanta United and host Charleston Battery struggled to get their respective attacks going. The best opportunity for the Five Stripes came when a rare header from Andrew Carleton was saved by Odisnel Cooper in the 37th minute.

The match well fit for those struggling with insomnia continued to be a lackluster affair in the second half, as close to nothing notable happened for the Red & Black other than a Jack Gallagher debut shot being saved once again by Cooper midway through the second.

On the brigthside, Franco Escobar continued to impress with his overlaps on the right, adding another dimension to an already potent attack. Carleton also provided a spark with his passing through the middle, showcasing his versatility within the midfield. It’d also be nice to see Andrew Wheeler-Omiunu be included in the rotation more often during the regular season. He had a good showing and made very few mistakes.

Overall, this was a pretty mild preseason for Atlanta. The results weren’t great, but the chemistry between the returning starters and newcomers seemed to improve as time went on. Hopefully that culminates into an opening victory next Saturday against the Houston Dynamo.
