Recently departed Atlanta United defender Anton Walkes is already making his mark on his new club, Portsmouth FC, where he is on loan from Tottenham Hotspur. The Englishman scored on his debut for Pompey Saturday, helping the club from the south coast take a point against visiting Doncaster Rovers.
Walkes got the start at right back for Portsmouth, a position he made his own during his time on loan for Atlanta United. He showed off hi cultured left foot with this fantastic volleyed finish from a set piece.

Okay, so maybe this was very League One-y, but Pompey fans will take the goals any way they can get them. Having been promoted from League Two last season, and yet to win a game in the new year, Portsmouth is desperate for points to keep in the division for a second season. And it’s great to see players who’ve donned the five stripes go on to continue to excel after their time in Atlanta.
Here’s to many more goals to come for Anton!
