Jon Gallagher earns USL Team of the Week honors

Congratulations to the rookie!

Karl L. Moore

Jon Gallagher’s professional career couldn’t have gotten off to a much better start, culminating in the Irish rookie being named in the first USL Team of the Week in 2018.

Gallagher notched two goals and an assist in his first professional start, leading Atlanta United 2 to an impressive 3-1 win against a highly respected USL side in New York Red Bull II. Gallagher plays as an attacking winger for the 2s who looks to make runs toward the interior and get into goal-scoring positions. Gallagher was also credited with an assist for Yosef Samuel’s opener in the match, and the Notre Dame product also drew the penalty that he ended up scoring to put ATLUTD2 back in front, 2-1.

It’s a nice cherry on top of a very successful week for Atlanta’s USL side as they look to develop players and implement an attractive way of playing. Congratulations to Gallagher and hopefully there are many more awards to come.
