Even though Atlanta United scored early thanks to an own goal by Minnesota’s captain, the moody and underappreciated Francisco Calvo, the Five Stripes seemed to be in trouble after a Leandro González Pirez red card in the first half. Our captain rallied the team and completely shut down the Minnesota United attack that consisted exclusively by attempting to cross the ball. Honestly our whole defense should’ve been part of the team of the week after getting their first clean sheet playing a man down for most of the match in miserable weather conditions. Impressive AF.
Here’s the rest of the Team of the Week for Week 5:

It’s not entirely out of the realm of possibility that Parkhurst solidified his Team of the Week recognition with the way he continued to dominate Minnesota United after the final whistle. Minnesota’s twitter account tried to complain that Atlanta’s players were faking injury to time waste. And even though there’s a strong possibility they were doing that, Parkhurst clapped back.
