Orlando City supporters group the Iron Lion Firm is raising funds to cover the funeral cost and to support the family of Miguel Vazquez, an OCSC capo and original Iron Lion Firm member.
The Iron Lion Firm set an initial GoFundMe goal of 20,000 dollars. Last night, they met that goal with help from a somewhat unlikely place.
Wow. Atlanta United donated the remaining balance to cover Miguel’s funeral costs. Some things supersede rivalries.⚽️. #ATLUTD #OCSC pic.twitter.com/mVbGLVGwTk

While the club declined to comment on the matter, a source familiar with the situation confirmed the 2,926 dollar donation is from Atlanta United.
From the GoFundMe page it appears that other Atlanta United supporters have followed suit, or had already contributed to the page. They join hundreds of Orlando fans in doing so.
In all, it’s another reminder that the most important thing about the game we follow is never the game. It’s the community we grow around it.
