Atlanta United’s 4-1 win over the Montreal Impact brought us not one, but two beautiful free-kicks from Kevin Kratz. Unfortunately, only one free-kick could be nominated for Goal of the Week.
An exceptional set piece from the midfielder put Atlanta 2-1 up late in the game, before Miguel Almiron added a third a few minutes later. Atlanta (and Kratz) weren’t done there as the 31-year old line up another free kick and curled in his second of the game,
The differences between the first and second were minimal, but the former was worthier of a Goal of the Week nomination due to it being the eventual game-winner.

Since joining Atlanta, Kevin Kratz has made it his duty to score as many free kicks as humanly possible. Is he on Giovinco’s level? No, but it took Giovinco 18 minutes to score two in one half, and it only took Kratz 13 minutes.
