MLS: Montreal Impact at Atlanta United FC Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

Atlanta United vanquished a pesky foe in the Montreal Impact Saturday afternoon after the Canadian side bagged an early goal and made things difficult for the home side for vast portions of the game. Despite having nearly 80% possession through the first half, Atlanta rarely threatened the Montreal goal with clear goal-scoring chances. Tata Martino rolled the dice at halftime, brining on Tito Villalba for Jeff Larentowicz, and the gamble paid off. In the second half, Atlanta United applied more and more pressure to the point where Montreal could hardly get out of it’s own defensive third.

Man of the Match: It could only be one player -- Kevin Kratz. The German midfielder didn’t even appear in the game until after the 70th minute-mark, but Kevinho made his mark on the game in a big way. With one of his first few touches of the game, Kratz drilled a perfectly placed free kick over the Montreal wall and into the top left hand corner of EVan Bush’s net to give Atlanta a 2-1 lead. But he wasn’t done, as he bookended his appearance with yet another “wunderbar” when he lashed yet another free kick past a helpless Evan Bush. It was, quite simply, a perfect performance from the German.
