Tito Villalba wins Atlanta United’s Performer of the Month award for March

Do you agree?

Atlanta United has named Tito Villalba the Performer of the Month for March. Villalba has enjoyed a solid start to the season, with one goal and one assist in four matches. He has been very influential in Atlanta’s attacking play.

Villalba’s goal came in the second game of the season against DC United. He finished off a fantastic short corner by heading it over Goalkeeper David Ousted and in the far corner of the net.

His assist also came in the DC United match. Villalba was able to get free down the right side of the pitch and played a beautifully threaded through ball for Josef Martinez to slot home.

Villalba is a huge part of Atlanta’s success because he has the ability to strike fear into an opponent. His work rate and electrifying pace can prove to be too difficult for opposing defenders to deal with. Now that we are seeing more of the 3-5-2 formation from Atlanta he has been given a slightly different role on the pitch. Instead of playing mostly from the wing he has been paired with Josef in a more central role. The speed and tactical awareness of that striker combination has proven to be lethal in front of goal and in build up play.
