Injury Report: Atlanta United vs. New York Red Bulls

nearing full fitness.

MLS: Vancouver Whitecaps at Atlanta United FC John David Mercer-USA TODAY Sports

Tata Martino spoke with reporters Friday morning to give us some further insight into the status of Franco Escobar and Chris McCann for Sunday’s matchup against the New York Red Bulls. For now, it’s mostly more of the same.

Franco Escobar: He will once again be unavailable. Escobar picked up an injury after colliding with Brad Guzan in the late stages of the match against the Chicago Fire. The defender is still recovering from a chest injury and will now miss his third consecutive match.

Chris McCann: The Irishman is also unavailable for Sunday’s match. McCann is still nursing a hamstring injury, and just like Escobar, will miss his third match in a row.

The good news is Martino said that he expects both Escobar and McCann to return for the May 30 fixture against the New England Revolution. Barring any additional injuries against NYRB, that would be one of the rare matches all season Atlanta is fully fit.
