Kevin Kratz wins MLS Goal of the Week

Shocker.

MLS: Montreal Impact at Atlanta United FC Dale Zanine-USA TODAY Sports

After his stunning free kick, Kevin Kratz takes home MLS Goal of the Week honors with 80% of the vote. Kratz, the third leading scorer for Atlanta United this season, scored his goal minutes after Miguel Almiron’s penalty kick equalizer to give Atlanta a 2-1 lead over the Montreal Impact. That goal would wound up being the game winner as Atlanta tacked on two more goals to win 4-1.

Kratz’s ability to score on free kicks was first put on notice in Atlanta after scoring one last year in the 7-0 win over the New England Revolution and against the Impact he was able to do it twice. The crazy part is his second goal, which put Atlanta up 4-1, was arguably better than the first. His first one, however, still gets the nod, likely because it was the game winner for the Five Stripes.

Atlanta players have now won GotW three times in just nine weeks, the only team to have won it multiple times so far this season. For now, it seems that Atlanta has found their free kick specialist.
