MLS has revealed the jersey design for the 2018 All-Star Game to be held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium on Wednesday August 1 against Italian giants Juventus.
Diagonal stripes are obviously the in thing for the summer season, given their proliferation at the World Cup. This shirt is no exception. Primarily white with red and blue accents, as well as the unfortunate bright red Target logo, the design is intended to evoke Atlanta’s history as a transportation hub. This is achieved by means of the railroad crossing “jock tag”, which is probably a term you really didn’t need to know. The iconic Adidas triple stripe is black.
The jersey can be ordered online at MLSstore.com and will also be available at some Atlanta-area Target stores, and comes in two versions. The full version retails for $120 and the not-so-cheapo version (missing several of the accent details) for $65. Several other ASG items are also for sale.
In light of the current status of All-Star voting to date, I think it reasonable to consider this Atlanta United’s first third kit.
