Tata Martino spoke with reporters Monday morning to give us some further insight into the status of certain players for Wednesday’s Round of 16 U.S. Open Cup bout against the Chicago Fire. A couple questions remain.
Josef Martinez: The prolific striker is questionable for Wednesday, but Martino is hopeful to have him back for Sunday’s league matchup against the Portland Timbers. Martinez suffered a broken nose last week against the Columbus Crew after colliding with a defender while jumping for a header that ultimately led to his goal. He exited the match at halftime.
Chris McCann: Martino announced that the Irishman is questionable for Wednesday after missing the last three matches due to a hamstring injury. With Greg Garza out for a while, it’s important for his likely replacement in the starting lineup to regain his form. Could we see the defender get some much needed playing time against the Fire?
