If there’s been a common refrain to Atlanta United’s season in 2108, it’s definitely “We didn’t play well, but we still won.” That’s exactly what happened Saturday night in (the open air) Mercedes-Benz Stadium as Atlanta United kinda sleepwalked past a severly shorthanded Philadelphia Union team after two early sendings off.
Man of the Match: It can only be Josef Martinez, right? Martinez bagged another hat trick for the Five Stripes, his fifth in his MLS career, placing him jointly at the top of the MLS career hat trick list. He is now tied with Diego Serna and Stern John for the most all time. Every player who has ever played in MLS is lower than those three players on this list, and what makes it even more remarkable is that Josef has done it in only 34 league matches in his career.
