Andrew Carleton nets first competitive Atlanta United goal

Frosted Orange opens his account

Possibly the most popular player on Atlanta United only has 14 minutes in MLS this season, but Andrew Carleton did something in the 14th minute of the US Open Cup that he hasn’t done for the Five Stripes so far: net a goal in a competitive match. With Atlanta looking to get off on the right foot as the team searches to win it’s first Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup match against the Charleston Battery, Powder Springs Pulisic fired in a long range effort against the USL side.

This is the youngster’s first competitive goal for the first-team. Despite scoring in the team’s first friendly against Chattanooga FC and getting an assist earlier this year, he hadn’t scored in a competitive game until tonight. The match is perhaps a look to the future of Atlanta United as Ezequiel Barco is leading the midfield and Carleton is cutting in from the wing.

Congrats Andrew, this is no doubt the first of many peaches that you’ll deposit into the basket!
