Pre-game

Atlanta United return home after a two-game road trip that offered mixed results. The match with the Seattle Sounders will likely be a highly-watched one as it comes merely an hour or less after the completion of the World Cup final. Expectations are that Mercedes-Benz Stadium will be packed and could even offer up yet another record-breaking attendance.

The Five Stripes’ form continues to go up and down. Tata Martino’s side haven’t put together back-to-back wins in about five weeks. Coming off of a win on the road in Philadelphia they’ll be looking to take advantage of the slumping Sounders and finally get that elusive second straight victory.

The defending Western conference champions come into the match with a putrid 16 points through 17 matches played this season. Injuries and poor form have Brian Schmetzer’s team scrambling for points to get back into the playoff picture. New signing Raul Ruidiaz will be available for selection for the first time, but the team will be without Clint Dempsey and Roman Torres, who didn’t travel to Atlanta.

Can Atlanta take care of business against a struggling team or will they hit another Cascadia road block at home?
