Two late goals after the 85th minute of Wednesday nights match in Frisco, Texas against FC Dallas downed Atlanta United, only the team’s second road loss this year. Tesho Akindele’s late brace salvaged an incredible home record for Dallas, which is unbeaten at home in nearly a year and remains so this season. It’s a bitter blow to take for the Five Stripes, but they won’t have any time to dwell on it with another match coming this Saturday at 7 p.m. in Philadelphia.
Man of the Match: Josef Martinez
The Venezuelan Viper, a term coined by Atlanta United play-by-play commentator Kevin Egan, struck again Wednesday with a brace of his own. Martinez now leads MLS by six goals in the race for the Golden Boot. His 17 goals place him just 10 short of tying the single season record, held by Bradley Wright-Phillips, Chris Wondolowski and Roy Lassiter.
