The 2019 MLS SuperDraft is upon us. Can you feel the excitement?? Are your palms sweating and toes dancing in your shoes??? I know mine are. Maybe it’s because of who Atlanta United will take with the last pick in most of the rounds in which it has selections (it’s not). In all seriousness, everyone should be looking forward to see if there are any big trades or signings announced by Atlanta United or any of the other clubs from around the league during the draft SuperDraft. After all, it was this event last year that brought to us the official announcement of Ezequiel Barco’s arrival. This year, Pity Martinez is apparently just waiting in the wings for Darren Eales to make a tweet and officially be recognized publicly as an Atlanta United player.
For those of you interested in an honest-to-goodness breakdown of the draft class and who Atlanta United might target, Dirty South Soccer’s ATLUTDProspect’s penned a terrific report.

UPDATE: With the 24th pick in the draft, Atlanta United selects Anderson Asiedu, a central midfielder from UCLA. Asiedu won the combine MVP, and is a tough tackling defensive midfielder, despite standing only 5’6”. We will have more on Atlanta’s draft picks in a post tomorrow.
