Atlanta United have, at long last, signed the reigning South American Player of the Year in Pity Martinez from River Plate. Obviously it’s been a long time coming, with strong reports of his future in America emanating months ago. Today is his first time meeting the press, and I’m sure we’ll learn some more about him today.

I’ll be keeping you up to date in this post with updates from the training ground and the press conference itself. The interview should begin around 10 a.m., but hopefully I’ll be on my computer ~30 minutes prior. Please chime in the comments with anything you notice from the event (I’m assuming it will be streamed somewhere) and let me know if you have any questions you’d like to know.

UPDATES

9:30 a.m. - We’ve arrived at the training ground ahead of the press conference. Funnily enough, Pity himself was lounging here in the lobby when I arrived (and has since departed). Again, if y’all have questions for Pity or myself, just hit up the comments.

9:38 a.m. - Just heard that the press conference will be streamed on Facebook and Youtube on the club’s channels. Re: the question about if Pity sees Atlanta as a stepping stone, it’s a valid question and it’ll be asked in due time, but an introductory press conference is not the time to ask so specifically. We will be asking about his motivations to join Atlanta.

10:01 a.m. We are minutes away...
