In an interview for BS The Podcast that dropped this morning, Atlanta United’s Michael Parkhurst opened up about a variety of subjects, including the status of Josef Martinez’s leg injury. When asked if Josef was ok, Parkie said:
“Honestly, shockingly, he is. I mean, when I rewatched the video it thought, ‘Oh my God, there goes his knee.’ It just looked bad, but somehow, he’s already out running. I’ll be surprised if he doesn’t play this weekend, but maybe they’ll wait until—because we’re already qualified—maybe they’ll wait the extra two weeks and give him time.”
This is great news for Atlanta fans that comes on the heels of the AJC’s Doug Roberson’s breaking update that Josef is in training today with the team in Marietta.

Atlanta United will host the New England this weekend at Mercedes-Benz Stadium for the final regular season match of the season. While both teams have already secured playoff spots, the Five Stripes have the chance to lock up second place in the Eastern Conference, and with it, guaranteed home-field advantage for the first two rounds of the MLS Playoffs.
(BTW, after you’ve heard the latest Mouths of the South and Fives Stripes Final pods, gives BS The Podcast a full listen. It’s outstanding.)
