Atlanta United attacking midfielder Ezequiel Barco has been called up to Argentina’s U-23 team for the upcoming Fifa international break.

I don’t know who the U-23s are playing or where. They may not be playing any other youth national teams at all — it could just be a camp to bring the players together in Argentina, which might be a good opportunity for Barco to go get some sun in the Argentine springtime and keep playing soccer after missing so much time during the regular season with injury.
It’s bound to be a busy winter for Atlanta United in the transfer window, and Barco’s name is surely one that will be bandied about even more than it already has. Unfortunately, Atlanta will likely have to fend off suitors and keep Barco happy to stay, as it’s unlikely the club will receive a valuation they desire with Barco not really producing many tangible stats (goals/assists) in the run-in to the season once he regained his health. He limped around Atlanta United’s locker room after its last two postseason games after taking a hefty beating in very physical matches.
Here’s hoping he has a nice and safe camp.
