We all know what happened. Atlanta United was bounced from the MLS Cup playoffs against Toronto.
Now that the lede is out of the way, I wanted to include a short personal note. As the person who’s looked and published your ratings every week, I want to thank everyone who voted this year, no matter if it was just for one poll or all of them. I feel that, as a community and with the large numbers that are aggregated in these ratings, y’all reflect performances quite accurately. Thanks for your participation!
Man of the Match: Pity Martinez
Pity Martinez did in the MLS Playoffs what he’s done for most of his professional career: play his best games in the biggest moments. We already saw it in his MOTM performance in the U.S. Open Cup Final win earlier this season, and he was again that kind of player in Atlanta’s last two matches. After some unhappiness after being left out for the two matches against the New England Revolution, Martinez showed his quality against the Philadelphia Union and Toronto FC.
