Atlanta United announced today that the club will open its 2020 MLS Regular Season against expansion side Nashville SC on Saturday, Feb. 29 at 8 p.m. at Nissan Stadium.
This is the second announced match of the 2020 season, as Atlanta will play at Soldier Field for Chicago Fire’s home opener on March 21. Note that these two games are not back-to-back, and there will almost certainly be a match at Mercedes-Benz Stadium scheduled in early March.
The team said the remainder of the club’s MLS schedule will be announced at a later date, and that tickets are not yet on sale. Information on ticket availability and how to purchase will become available in the coming weeks.
The announcement means Atlanta United will be playing in two newly-purposed venues in the first month of the season, potentially making these away fixtures trickier than they might otherwise have been. But the good news is we’ll see Atlanta United playing on the road in front of what should be massive MLS crowds. No matter how the results of the matches turn out, Atlanta will surely like the fact that they are the ones who’ve been chosen to play on these big stages early in the season.
