Brandon Vazquez’s time with Atlanta United has come to an end as he was drafted by Nashville SC in the 2019 MLS Expansion draft. After the draft, Nashville traded Vazquez to FC Cincinnati.
Vazquez signed with Atlanta United as a Discovery Signing via transfer from Club Tijuana on Dec. 2, 2016, and scored on his club debut against Real Salt Lake on April 22, 2017.
Unfortunately, the California native spent most of his Atlanta United tenure battling injuries and/or playing out of his natural position as a center forward. Tata Martino utilized him primarily as a winger off the bench in 2017 and 2018, during which Vazquez accounted 21 league appearances without a start.
Vazquez made his biggest breakthrough with the first team in 2019 under Frank de Boer, a year in which he made seven league starts and 11 appearances. He was also a key part of Atlanta United’s 2019 U.S. Open Cup run, scoring twice against the Charleston Battery in a match that helped vault Atlanta to a trophy.
Thanks for everything Brandon!
