The Mexican Football Federation (FMF), Atlanta United and Soccer United Marketing (SUM) today announced that Venezuela will be the team that Mexico faces in Mercedes-Benz Stadium this summer on June 5 during the FMF’s pre-Gold Cup tour.
We already knew that Tata Martino’s Mexican side would be coming back to MBS for a match. Now we know that he might also reunite with his former Golden Boot winner Josef Martinez with the Venezuelan National Team. Martinez would likely play in the game barring an injury or an act of God that would prevent him from participating.
The match will be the first non-Atlanta United soccer game to be held at Mercedes-Benz Stadium. (Editor’s note: There was an MLS All-Star game, but we were all there to support Atlanta, right?)
Tickets for all Mexican National Team tour matches, including this one, are now on sale via MexTour.org, ticketmaster.com or by calling 1-800-745-3000.
We know our Mexican and Venezuelan Atlanta United fans will be trying to snag tickets to this one, but how about Atlanta United fans of other national teams? Are you going to try to go see Josef vs, Tata? I’m curious to hear your thoughts on this one.
